Pankrti, often hailed as the pioneering punk rock band from Slovenia (formerly part of Yugoslavia), burst onto the music scene in the late 1970s with an explosive sound that captured the restless spirit of youth under a socialist regime. The band was formed in 1977 in Ljubljana by Peter Lovšin, Gregor Tomc, Bogo Pretnar, Dušan Žiberna, and Boris Kramberger. Their name, which translates to "Bastards" in English, encapsulates their rebellious and iconoclastic ethos.

The band is credited with kickstarting the punk movement in the former Yugoslavia and challenging the political status quo through their lyrics and aggressive style.
