Pa Salieu

Pa Salieu is a British-Gambian rapper and singer who ascended to prominence with his unique blend of gritty rap, melodic sensibilities, and the cultural influences of his West African heritage. Born on the 1st of July, 1997, in Slough, England, Salieu spent his early childhood in The Gambia before moving to Coventry, UK, at the age of eight. His music journey began earnestly after recovering from a life-threatening gunshot wound to the head in 2019, an event that catalyzed his determination to pursue his musical dreams.

Salieu's breakout single, "Frontline," released in January 2020, became the most-played track of that year on BBC 1Xtra. Later that year, he released his critically acclaimed debut mixtape "Send Them to Coventry," which put his name firmly on the map with its exploration of themes such as identity, immigration, and community. Fusing elements of drill, grime, dancehall, and Afroswing, Pa Salieu's sound is both rebellious and introspective, marked by his distinctive vocal delivery and thought-provoking lyrics. Tracks like "Energy," featuring Mahalia, and "My Family" with BackRoad Gee, showcase his versatility and ability to connect with listeners on multiple levels. With a series of successful collaborations and singles such as "Glidin’" featuring slowthai and "Bad" with Aitch, Pa Salieu continues to solidify his status as one of the most promising and innovative artists in the UK music scene.
