Peterpan, now known as NOAH since 2012, is an influential pop rock band hailing from Bandar Lampung, Indonesia. Founded in 2000, the group quickly rose to fame with their fresh blend of pop melodies and rock energy, spearheaded by the charismatic vocal stylings of lead singer Nazril Irham, commonly known as Ariel. The band's line-up consisted of Ariel, Andika Naliputra Wirahardja on keyboards, Hendra Suhendra on bass, Uki Kautsar on guitar, Reza on drums, and Lukman on guitar.
The early 2000s saw the band's meteoric rise in the Indonesian music scene with breakthrough albums such as "Taman Langit" (2003) and "Bintang Di Surga" (2004), solidifying their status as one of the nation's top musical acts. Their subsequent albums "OST. Alexandria" (2005), "Peterpan In House Mix" (2005), "Hari Yang Cerah" (2007), and the compilation "Sebuah Nama, Sebuah Cerita" (2008), before the name change to NOAH, encompassed a series of hits that became anthems for a generation of Indonesian music fans. Peterpan's sound was characterized by catchy hooks, heartfelt lyrics, and an ability to resonate with a wide audience, ensuring their place in the pantheon of Indonesian pop rock music. Despite changes and challenges, including Ariel's well-publicized legal issues and the eventual name change, the band's legacy endures, with their music continuing to captivate fans both old and new.
