Olga Prats was a renowned Portuguese pianist, born on November 4, 1938, in Cascais. She began her musical journey at a young age, studying with her mother and later with João Maria Abreu e Motta. Prats completed her piano studies at the Conservatório Nacional de Lisboa and furthered her education in Germany, where she was recognized as the best foreign student in 1958. Her career was marked by collaborations with prominent orchestras and composers, including Fernando Lopes-Graça, whose piano music she frequently premiered. Prats was also a dedicated educator, teaching at institutions like the Conservatório Nacional and the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa. She was celebrated for her contributions to Portuguese music, particularly in the realm of chamber music, and was honored with several awards, including being made a Comendadora da Ordem Militar de Santiago da Espada in 2008.
