ZZ Top

ZZ Top is an iconic American rock band known for their distinctive blues-rock sound, surrealist humor in their lyrics and videos, and the remarkable bearded look of two of their members. The band formed in 1969 in Houston, Texas, with its classic lineup consisting of vocalist/guitarist Billy Gibbons, bassist/vocalist Dusty Hill, and drummer Frank Beard. ZZ Top gained fame with their third album, 'Tres Hombres,' in 1973, which featured the hit "La Grange," inspired by the bordello in the town of La Grange, Texas. Through the 1970s and early 1980s, the band built a solid fan base with their bluesy, boogie rock sound.

With the advent of MTV in the 1980s, ZZ Top found a new level of fame through their clever and iconic music videos, especially for songs like "Gimme All Your Lovin'," "Sharp Dressed Man," and "Legs" from their platinum-selling 1983 album 'Eliminator.' Their synthesis of blues roots with contemporary sounds kept them relevant for decades, yielding hits across several generations and securing their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. Despite the death of Dusty Hill in 2021, ZZ Top continues to tour and produce music, maintaining their legacy as musical innovators and rock icons. Their most recent release, "RAW (‘That Little Ol' Band From Texas’ Original Soundtrack)," serves as a testament to their longstanding influence and signature sound.
