Lynn Taitt

Lynn Taitt was a Trinidadian-born guitarist and bandleader who became a cornerstone of Jamaica’s rocksteady era in the 1960s. After moving to Jamaica in the early ’60s, his smooth, melodic guitar riffs helped define the genre’s laid-back groove, bridging the gap between ska and reggae. As a session musician and arranger, Taitt worked with legends like Alton Ellis and The Melodians, shaping timeless tracks like "Rocksteady" and "Girl I’ve Got a Date." His band, Lynn Taitt & the Jets, became synonymous with the rocksteady sound, backing vocal giants and dropping instrumental gems like "Bat Man" and "Glad Sounds." Though he later relocated to Canada, his influence remains etched into Jamaican music history. Taitt passed away in 2010, but his chill-inducing licks still soundtrack island vibes worldwide.
