A Hidden Trace is the solo project of Xubo, who is also the frontman and guitarist/vocalist of the Chinese indie rock band Chinese Football. The project started in 2007, with Xubo considering re-recording the first demo album for its 10th anniversary in 2017. A Hidden Trace's music explores themes of youth and draws inspiration from 90s indie rock sounds.
Xubo has mentioned forming a new band in Osaka to perform A Hidden Trace songs live, while living in Kyoto for studies. The project's album titles, like "I Like to Make Friends With People Who Like Wes Anderson," reflect Xubo's interest in film and its influence on his music.
