Adrian West

Adrian West is a talented musician from Montreal, now based in the San Francisco Bay Area. He began playing violin at the age of four and later studied classical violin at the McGill Conservatory of Music. Over time, he expanded his musical repertoire by learning to play drums, guitar, and developing his singing and songwriting skills. In 1995, Adrian moved to the Bay Area, where he worked as a sideman violinist for local bands, performing at notable venues like the Fillmore and Yoshi's SF. In 2005, he formed the Adrian West Band, which has released two albums, including "Chameleons and Butterflies" in 2011 and "The Human Touch" in 2019. The band is known for its eclectic mix of originals and covers, blending styles from Paul Simon to Talking Heads.

Adrian West's approach to music is centered around creating engaging melodies and arrangements before writing lyrics. His music often combines elements of acoustic rock, jazz, and classical styles. The Adrian West Band typically performs as a three-to-five-piece ensemble, featuring instruments like acoustic guitar, electric violin, upright bass, and alto sax, with live looping adding a dynamic layer to their performances. Recent releases include "Evader," "Saturday Song," and "The One-Way Pony Ride." The band's music often reflects real-life themes set to joyful tunes, blending vocal harmonies with rich instrumentation.
