Miho Hazama

Miho Hazama is a Tokyo-born, New York-based jazz composer and arranger who's become one of the most exciting voices in contemporary large-ensemble jazz. Leading her innovative 13-piece chamber ensemble m_unit, she masterfully blends big band traditions with classical precision and modern improvisation, creating what she calls "organic orchestral jazz." A graduate of the Manhattan School of Music (where she studied under Jim McNeely), Hazama has stacked up impressive credentials – from Grammy nominations for her arrangements to collaborations with jazz greats like Chick Corea and big bands like the Danish Radio Big Band. Her recent projects like *Live Life This Day: Celebrating Thad Jones* and *m_unit: Beyond Orbits* showcase her knack for honoring jazz legends while pushing boundaries, often featuring special guests like saxophonist Immanuel Wilkins. When she's not conducting orchestras worldwide, you might catch her crafting whimsical children's music (as heard in *Chipmunk Timmy's Funny Sunny Day*) – proof that her musical curiosity knows no bounds.
