Imagination

Imagination was a British soul and funk band that rose to prominence in the early 1980s. Formed in London, the group originally consisted of Leee John (vocals), Ashley Ingram (bass guitar), and Errol Kennedy (drums). They became known for their distinctive blend of soulful vocals, futuristic fashion, and dance-ready grooves. Their 1982 hit “Just an Illusion” remains their best-known track, charting internationally and becoming a staple of the era’s dance music scene.

Imagination’s style combined elements of post-disco, funk, and synth-pop, and they were notable not only for their music but also for their flamboyant stage presence and fashion, which helped set them apart from other acts of the time. With hits like “Body Talk,” “Music and Lights,” and “Changes,” the group enjoyed success across Europe and beyond. Although the original lineup eventually disbanded, Leee John has continued to perform under the Imagination name, keeping the group’s legacy alive with new releases and live performances.
