The Norwegian Soloists' Choir

The Norwegian Soloists' Choir (Det Norske Solistkor) stands as a beacon of innovative and expressive choral performance. Formed in 1950 by the conductor Knut Nystedt, the ensemble began as a choir for professional singers and has since evolved into a premier chamber choir with a high international reputation. The choir is known for its blending of traditional choral music with new works, often commissioning contemporary pieces to expand their eclectic repertoire.

Their exploration of a wide array of musical genres is demonstrated through their diverse discography, which includes works by modern composers like Bent Sørensen as well as fresh interpretations of classical pieces by J.S. Bach. With albums such as "Bach: The Motets" and "Rós: Songs of Christmas," the Norwegian Soloists' Choir showcases a seamless integration of sacred music roots with a modern sensibility, capturing audiences with their meticulous and spirited performances. Under the direction of various skilled conductors through the years, with Grete Pedersen currently at the helm since 1990, the choir consistently pushes the boundaries of choral music, bringing both passion and precision to the stage and studio alike.
