Lootpack

Lootpack is an underground hip-hop group from Oxnard, California, best known for their association with the influential independent label Stones Throw Records. The group consists of producer and MC Madlib (Otis Jackson Jr.), fellow MC Wildchild, and DJ Romes. They made waves with their 1999 debut album, Soundpieces: Da Antidote!, which is celebrated for its intricate beats, raw lyricism, and an unmistakable West Coast underground vibe. The album helped put Stones Throw on the map and showcased Madlib's distinctive production style that would go on to influence a generation of beatmakers.

Lootpack initially gained attention with tracks like “The Anthem” and “Loopdigga,” where their funk-infused beats and playful lyricism garnered a dedicated fan base. Though Lootpack released only one full-length album as a group, their impact on alternative hip-hop is undeniable, and each member has continued to contribute to music, particularly Madlib, who has become one of the most revered producers in hip-hop.
