Hasni Sghir, often referred to as the "King of Raï Sentimentale," was an Algerian Raï singer and songwriter. Hugely popular in the 1990s, his music blended traditional Raï sounds with modern instruments and often explored themes of love, loss, and social issues. He gained a massive following, particularly among younger Algerians, for his emotional lyrics and passionate delivery. Tragically, his career was cut short when he was assassinated in 1994 at the young age of 26, solidifying his status as a legend and icon within the Raï genre. His music continues to be listened to and celebrated by fans worldwide.
