Junaid Jamshed

Junaid Jamshed was a Pakistani recording artist, television personality, fashion designer, and preacher. Born on September 3, 1964, in Karachi, Pakistan, he initially gained fame as the frontman of the band Vital Signs, one of the pioneering bands of the Pakistani pop music industry, in the late 1980s. Their popular song "Dil Dil Pakistan" earned them nationwide recognition and is considered a second national anthem of Pakistan.

However, Junaid's music journey took a dramatic turn in the early 2000s when he renounced his pop career to focus on religious activities and nasheeds, an Islamic vocal music genre that glorifies Islam and its teachings. His later releases reflect his devoutness and efforts to spread Islamic messages through his music. Some of his recent notable releases include "Allah Ha Karam (Mashup)," "Elahe Yuruddo," and various recitations of Qur'anic Surahs like "Surah Al-'Asr," "Surah Al-Balad," and "Surah Al-Fajr," which all highlight his commitment to his faith. Junaid passed away on December 7, 2016, in a plane crash while returning from a Tablighi Jamaat mission in Chitral, Pakistan, but his dual legacy as a pop icon and religious preacher continues to influence many in South Asia and around the world.
