Transhistria Ensemble

Transhistria Ensemble is an internationally renowned group led by Croatian composer, vocalist, and flutist Tamara Obrovac, whose distinctive sound blends the musical and dialectal traditions of Istria with jazz and contemporary elements. The ensemble stands out for its exceptional musical chemistry and improvisational flair, featuring Slovenian double bassist Žiga Golob, Croatian drummer Krunoslav Levačić, Slovenian guitarist and mandolinist Uroš Rakovec, and Italian accordionist Fausto Beccalossi—each a highly skilled musician who has contributed to the group’s unique, dynamic sound since the late 1990s and early 2000s. Known for their spontaneous and expressive live performances, Transhistria Ensemble has released several studio albums—including notable works like *Madirosa*, *Villa Idola*, *Transhistria*, *Sve Pasiva*, and *Daleko Je...Is Faraway*—as well as the acclaimed live album *Live @ ZKM*. Their music is celebrated for its inventive fusion of local heritage, jazz improvisation, and engaging stage presence.
