Otto Büchner

Otto Büchner was a German violinist and conductor who lived from 1894 to 1963. He was known for his virtuosic playing and his interpretations of Baroque music. Büchner studied violin with Willy Hess and conducting with Hermann Scherchen. He made his debut as a soloist with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra in 1919 and went on to perform with many of the world's leading orchestras. In 1933, he was appointed concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, a position he held until 1945. After the war, Büchner continued to perform and record as a soloist and conductor. He also taught violin at the Hochschule für Musik in Berlin.
