Claudio Brizi

**Claudio Brizi** is an Italian organist, harpsichordist, and music scholar known for his expertise in historical keyboard instruments and hybrid creations like the claviorgan. Born in 1960, he studied organ with W. v. d. Pol at Perugia’s Morlacchi Conservatory before specializing further under J. Uriol, M. Radulescu, and M. Morgan, later mastering harpsichord under A. Conti in Bologna. With over 100 recordings spanning Renaissance to avant-garde works, his discography includes collaborations with musicians like Thomas Indermühle and Wolfgang Schulz, covering composers from J.S. Bach to Clementi. A passionate organologist, Brizi designs and restores instruments, curates a collection of rare keyboards (including a 16th-century harpsichord), and champions hybrid instruments like the pedalpiano in performances worldwide.

His recent projects spotlight claviorgan works and inventive pairings, such as harmonino-fortepiano hybrids, often highlighting Italian baroque influences. Alongside teaching at Perugia’s conservatory, he’s earned accolades like the Japan Audiophile Prize for his historically informed yet experimental approach.
