Bròn is a musical project that evokes the atmospheric and ambient landscapes of black metal, interwoven with the solitude and vastness of nature. The brainchild of the multi-instrumentalist and producer Krigeist, who is also known for his work with Barshasketh, Bròn started as a personal venture in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2014. Initially drawn as a soundscape of Krigeist's experiences in Scotland, Bròn has since relocated following the artist's move to New Zealand, leading to a shift in the project's thematic inspirations towards the local terrains of Krigeist's new home. The word "Bròn" itself translates to "sorrow" or "sadness" in Scottish Gaelic, aptly reflecting the emotive drive and melancholic undertones of the music.
Bròn's discography is a testament to the project's evolving narrative, with each release building upon a foundation of expansive post-black metal to tell stories of nature, existence, and the human experience. The 2020 album "Pred Dverima Noći," which translates to "Before the Doors of the Night," plunges into deep introspection accompanied by a mix of harsh vocals and haunting melodies. The compelling journey continued with "Ànrach" in 2020 — a raw and visceral exploration of chaos and disorder, encapsulating a cathartic release of energy. The 2021 release "Fògradh," meaning "exile" or "a parting," navigates the themes of isolation and departure, wrapping dense layers of sound around the listener in what feels like a farewell embrace. Bròn's music transcends traditional metal norms, offering a stirring and immersive experience for listeners willing to traverse its unique sonic realms.
