Elvin Bishop is an American blues and rock music guitarist, singer, and songwriter with a career that spans more than half a century. Born on October 21, 1942, in Glendale, California, Bishop grew up on a farm in Iowa where he was introduced to the blues. He first picked up the guitar as a teenager and honed his skills, eventually earning a scholarship to the University of Chicago. In 1968, Bishop embarked on a solo career, achieving success with hits like "Fooled Around and Fell in Love" in 1976.
