Ariel Quartet

The Ariel Quartet has been shaking up classical music scenes since their formation in Israel back in 1998. Originally childhood friends studying at the Jerusalem Academy of Music, the group later relocated to the U.S., where they’ve become celebrated for their fiery, emotionally charged interpretations of Beethoven (as seen in their ongoing *Complete String Quartets* series) and dynamic takes on composers like Brahms and Bartók. Based in Cincinnati as artists-in-residence at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, these four musicians – violinists Alexandra Kazovsky and Gershon Gerchikov, violist Jan Grüning, and cellist Amit Even-Tov – balance concert hall energy with chamber music intimacy, earning praise for technically dazzling and deeply collaborative performances. Whether tackling thorny modern works or classical pillars, they’ve built a reputation as storytellers who make even 200-year-old quartets feel fresh and urgent.
