SPACE GALVACHERS

Space Galvachers is a trio of French musicians active since 2018, consisting of Clément Janinet on violin, Clément Petit on cello, and Benjamin Flament on drums and percussion. Their name references the Burgundian term for roaming cowherds, symbolizing their musical exploration rooted in jazz and improvised music while blending influences from African, Arab, and Creole traditions. The group creates a unique soundscape that merges instrumental jazz with world music, drawing inspiration from French folklore, baroque, and even Japanese synth pop. Their 2025 album *Folk Songs* represents a balance between their jazz roots and world music explorations, offering a meditative and visceral listening experience.

The trio’s debut album, *Sounds of Brelok* (2020), was more aligned with modern jazz, while *Lo Swar* (2023) embraced danceable world music vibes, featuring collaboration with Olivier Araste (Olivyé). Their work reflects a continuous journey of musical discovery influenced by diverse cultures and styles, shaped notably by collaborations with acclaimed African and Creole musicians. Clément Janinet, a prominent French jazz violinist, leads the band with his extensive background in jazz and world music, having performed internationally and integrated various global musical techniques into the group’s sound.
