Lali Puna

Lali Puna is an electronic music project that hails from Weilheim in Oberbayern, Germany. Formed in 1998 by Valerie Trebeljahr, who writes and sings the majority of the band's music, the line-up also includes other renown musicians from the indie scene such as Markus Acher of The Notwist, Christoph Brandner (also of Tied & Tickled Trio), and Christian Heiß. Originally rooted as a solo endeavor by Trebeljahr, Lali Puna evolved into a quartet and quickly became one of the seminal bands in the so-called 'Weilheim scene', a hotbed of musical innovation combining elements of indie rock with electronic music.

With a discography that stretches over two decades, Lali Puna's sound has evolved and expanded while maintaining a distinct, delicate balance of pop sensibility and experimental curiosity. From the dreamy layers of their early works like "Tridecoder" to the more intricate and reflective tones of albums like "Faking the Books," they have consistently explored the relationship between electronic textures and lyrical introspection. Their more recent work, such as the "Two Windows" album and the "Being Water" EP, showcases the band's enduring ability to create intimate soundscapes that are both cerebrally engaging and emotionally resonant. Lali Puna's music often centers on themes of human interaction with technology, personal relationships, and societal commentary, delivered with Trebeljahr's tender yet poignant vocals. Always pushing the envelope, Lali Puna remains a significant and respected name in the realm of electronica and indie pop.
