Tony Kaye is a British keyboardist best known as the original keyboard player for the progressive rock band Yes. He joined the group in its early days in 1968 and played on their first three albums before departing in 1971. Kaye later returned to Yes in the early 1980s and contributed to their hugely successful album 90125, which included the hit single "Owner of a Lonely Heart." Known for his tasteful, restrained approach to keyboards, he helped shape the band's distinctive sound with his use of the Hammond organ and later, synthesizers.
Outside of Yes, Tony Kaye has played with several other acts, including Badger and Detective, and has also released solo work. In 2021, he released End Of Innocence, his first solo album, which was inspired by and serves as a tribute to the victims and heroes of 9/11. Throughout his career, Kaye has remained a respected figure in the world of classic and progressive rock, valued for his musicianship and contributions to some of the genre's most influential recordings.
