Lafidki

Lafidki is the moniker of Saphy Vong, a London-based sound and visual artist known for his experimental electronic music. Born in a refugee camp in Phanat Nikhom, Thailand, to Cambodian refugee parents who fled Pol Pot's regime, Vong was raised in France. He has been releasing music under the Lafidki name since 2008. His work often blends traditional and modern elements, reflecting his diverse cultural background and experiences. Lafidki's music is a fusion of multiple histories, geographies, and musical genres, creating a unique sound that resonates with both contemporary dance floors and ambient electronic scenes.

Lafidki has performed at numerous international festivals, including the Donau Festival 2018 in Krems, VIA 2012 in Pittsburgh, and represented Cambodia at Tallinn Music Week. He has collaborated with various artists and has released several albums, including "Derichan," "Dângrêk Mountains," "Chinabot," and "Absynthax." Additionally, Vong is the founder of Chinabot, a platform aimed at changing the dialogue around Asian music. His music often incorporates field recordings and eclectic sources, reflecting his deep connection to Cambodian culture and his interest in storytelling through sound.
