JVC Force

JVC Force (Justified by Virtue of Creativity For Obvious Reasons Concerning Entertainment) is a hip-hop group hailing from Long Island, New York, that made a significant impact on the East Coast rap scene during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Comprising members AJ Rok, B-Luv, and Curt Cazal, JVC Force burst onto the scene with the release of their debut album "Doin' Damage" in 1988. This album housed the group's most iconic track, "Strong Island," an anthem that proudly represented their Long Island roots and became a staple in the golden era of hip-hop.

The sound of JVC Force is characterized by its energetic delivery and inventive production that often combined sharp lyricism with hard-hitting beats. Their music regularly showcased a blend of funk, soul, and jazz samples, laying down the blueprint for the East Coast hip-hop aesthetic. After "Doin' Damage," they continued to release a series of singles that further solidified their status within the hip-hop community, including "Force Field," "Intro 2 Dance / It's a Force Thing," and "Take It Away / Strong Island (The Blue Mix)." Additionally, the tracks "Love Line" and "Stylin Lyrics" displayed the group's versatility and their ability to connect with their listeners through relatable themes and slick wordplay. JVC Force's influence may be most evident in the legacy of the 90s rap that followed them, where their sonic and stylistic contributions can still be felt.
