The Grass Roots

The Grass Roots are an American rock band that gained prominence during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Their music, characterized by a blend of pop melodies and psychedelic rock influences, captured the spirit of the era with an accessible sound that resonated with a wide audience. The band originally formed in 1965 when the songwriting duo of P.F. Sloan and Steve Barri were seeking artists to record songs they had penned. They ultimately were linked with a San Francisco band, The Bedouins, which was transformed into The Grass Roots.

The band enjoyed major success with a series of hits including "Let's Live For Today," "Midnight Confessions," and "Sooner Or Later," each of which highlighted their knack for catchy hooks and harmonious choruses. Among their standout achievements, "Let's Live For Today" remains a definitive anthem of the 60s, encapsulating the ethos of a generation with its poignant lyrics and memorable chorus. Over the years, The Grass Roots lineup changed frequently, but the group maintained a consistent presence in the music scene, touring and bringing their classic sound to new generations of fans. Through live performances and re-recordings of their biggest hits, like the a capella version of "Sooner Or Later," The Grass Roots keep the essence of their classic music alive. Their live renditions, like those on "The Ed Sullivan Show," remain a testament to their enduring stage presence and the timelessness of their catalog.
