The HillBenders

The HillBenders are a progressive bluegrass band known for blending traditional bluegrass instrumentation with rock and pop sensibilities. Formed in Springfield, Missouri, the group gained national attention with their 2015 release Tommy: A Bluegrass Opry, a full-length bluegrass interpretation of The Who’s iconic rock opera "Tommy." The project, endorsed by The Who’s Pete Townshend himself, showcased the band’s virtuosity and creative ambition, cementing their reputation as genre-bending innovators.

The HillBenders have built a strong following with their high-energy live performances and tight harmonies, combining banjo, dobro, mandolin, upright bass, and acoustic guitar in dynamic arrangements. Alongside reimagining classic rock, the band also delivers original material that spans bluegrass, Americana, and pop hooks, making them a standout act in today’s acoustic music scene.
