Quarx is a band born in the swamps of Baton Rouge, formed in 2017 around Alaric Fricke's songwriting. The group combines diverse musical influences, with Fricke coming from a Southern and improvisational rock background, Jonathan Zeringue on bass with a straight rock 'n' roll style, Keagan Soto on lead guitar from the Baton Rouge blues scene, and Thomas Vercher as a hardcore and metal drummer. This blend of styles results in a unique sound that has been described as Southern psychedelia. Quarx has released several tracks, including "Evil Has Died," which is part of a new record that was set to be released on major streaming platforms. Their music often features hazy, swirling visuals, and Fricke's vocals have been compared to those of Andrew Wood from Mother Love Bone.
Some of their notable releases include "See Sound," "School (Live at Fête Du Void)," "Wild Ride," "Rabbit Run," and the self-titled "Quarx." The band has played at various venues, including Howlin' Wolf, where they have performed alongside other acts like The Iceman Special.
