Clipse

Clipse was an influential hip-hop duo hailing from Virginia Beach, Virginia, consisting of brothers Gene "No Malice" Thornton and Terrence "Pusha T" Thornton. The group first established their footing in the music industry with the release of their debut album "Exclusive Audio Footage" in the late 1990s, but it was their first major label album, "Lord Willin'" in 2002, that propelled them into the limelight. Powered by the Neptunes' sharp production and their own unflinchingly honest lyrics about the drug trade and street life, Clipse garnered both critical acclaim and a devoted fanbase.

Their sophomore effort, "Hell Hath No Fury," released in 2006, solidified their reputation as a formidable force in the rap scene. The album was lauded for its raw lyricism and dark, minimalistic beats, which provided a stark backdrop to the duo's narratives about crime, ambition, and the underbelly of the American dream. Their third album, "Til The Casket Drops," was released in 2009 and showcased a more versatile sound, aiming for broader mainstream appeal while still keeping their lyrical edge. Despite the success they enjoyed as a duo, by the early 2010s, the brothers decided to pursue separate paths: Pusha T stepped further into the limelight with a thriving solo career and as the president of G.O.O.D. Music, while No Malice took a step back, focusing on his Christian faith and a solo career reflecting his new life's direction. Clipse leaves behind a compact, yet powerful legacy in the annals of hip-hop, characterized by their indelible mark on the genre's lyrical and stylistic landscape.
