Kathrin Schmidlin

Kathrin Schmidlin is a Swiss pianist born on March 15, 1990, in Rheinfelden. She has studied music extensively at prestigious institutions, including the Zurich University of the Arts with Karl-Andreas Kolly, and the Hochschule für Musik Nürnberg under Wolfgang Manz for her Master's in Concert Soloist. Schmidlin specializes in performing and recording works by lesser-known female composers from the 19th to the 21st century. Notably, she performed the complete piano cycle "Das Jahr" by Fanny Hensel and has released two critically acclaimed albums: "Frauenstimmen" (2021), which celebrates women's voices in music, and "Opus 1 feminin" (2022), featuring first-time recordings of debut works by female composers.

Kathrin Schmidlin's recordings have received significant critical acclaim, including recognition from media outlets like WQXR and Diapason. Her commitment to showcasing the contributions of female composers has been well-received across various platforms. She is also an active chamber musician and educator, often collaborating with cellist Anna Fortova. Currently, she resides in Basel and is married to the German philosopher Jörg Noller.
