Marco Lienhard is an esteemed musician, renowned for his mastery of the shakuhachi (Japanese bamboo flute). Having spent substantial time in Japan immersing himself in the traditional arts, he not only honed his craft under the tutelage of legendary shakuhachi master Katsuya Yokoyama but also became adept in the art of taiko with the celebrated group Ondekoza. Through his profound understanding of Japanese music and culture, Lienhard has become an ambassador of these traditional forms, composing, performing, and teaching throughout the world.

With a diverse repertoire that spans from traditional folk music to classical and contemporary pieces, Lienhard has contributed a unique voice to the world music scene. His innovative arrangements and emotive performances are captured in his recordings, which include "Prayer," "Sarabande from Suite in D Minor, HWV 437," arranged for shakuhachi and piano, the meditative "Rêverie," "The Traveler's Song," "Poeme Du Bambou," and, of course, his eponymous "Shakuhachi" album.
