KARD is a co-ed group that has been breaking the traditional boundaries of the South Korean pop music scene since their formation under DSP Media. Formed in 2016, the group consists of members J.Seph, BM, Somin, and Jiwoo. Unlike other K-pop groups, KARD has a balanced mix of male and female members which has given them a unique edge and versatility in both their music and performances. The group initially caught the attention of international and domestic fans with a series of pre-debut releases known as the "KARD Project," which included tracks like "Oh NaNa," "Don't Recall," and "Rumor."
KARD officially debuted on July 19, 2017, with the hit single "Hola Hola," which syncretized a vibrant summery sound with an upbeat dance rhythm, establishing their signature style that often blends tropical house and hip hop elements. The group has shown a consistent presence in the K-pop industry, releasing several mini-albums and digital singles which have collectively contributed to their growing recognition. Notably, they have achieved a level of international fandom that is commendable for a co-ed group, thanks in part to their multicultural outlook, with songs like "Bomb Bomb," "Dumb Litty," and "RED MOON." Their 6th mini-album 'ICKY' and remixes like "Without You" continue to spotlight their evolution in sound and artistry, cementing KARD's reputation as global K-pop trendsetters.
