US Military Academy Band

The United States Military Academy Band, often known as the "West Point Band," holds a distinguished place in American musical heritage, located at the prestigious United States Military Academy at West Point. Established in 1817, it is the Army’s oldest active band and one of the oldest military bands in the United States. With a storied history that pre-dates the Civil War, this elite ensemble has consistently been at the forefront of presenting military and patriotic music, often associated with the rich traditions and ceremonial activities of the Academy.

The band’s releases, notably the "Heritage of the March" series, underscore its commitment to preserving and celebrating the history of American military music. Each volume showcases the compositions of different march composers, highlighting the diversity and evolution of the genre. In its various recordings, such as "A Tribute To Percy Grainger," "West Point On The March," and "Sousa and American Marches," the band renders rousing interpretations of military marches and pieces by celebrated American and international composers. As the musical ambassadors of the Army, the US Military Academy Band carries forth the legacy of military music while connecting with various audiences through public performances, educational outreach, and recording projects that celebrate the spirit and valor of the United States armed forces.
