George Baker Selection

George Baker Selection is a Dutch pop and rock band that achieved worldwide fame in the 1970s with a sound characterized by its catchy melodies, clear vocals, and a distinctive blend of rock and folk elements. The band was fronted by Johannes Bouwens, who is better known by his stage name, George Baker. Formed in 1969, the George Baker Selection first hit the international music charts with their debut single "Little Green Bag," which became a top 20 hit in the United States in 1970, solidifying their place in the era's music scene.

Their subsequent single, "Paloma Blanca," released in 1975 as "Una Paloma Blanca" for the Spanish market, soared to the top of the charts in several countries and became the band's signature tune. Over the years, George Baker Selection produced various hits and maintained a strong European following, appealing to fans with their melodious pop-folk songs and George Baker's compelling voice. Their discography includes a blend of original works and remastered classics, such as "Morning Sky," "Goodbye Miss Happiness," and "Santa Lucia By Night," showcasing their versatility and enduring popularity. While the band formally dissolved in the early 1980s, their music continues to be celebrated and rediscovered by new generations, partially due to the enduring interest in classic pop and the resurgence of their songs in popular films and media.
