Jam & Spoon

Jam & Spoon were a pioneering pair in the electronic music scene, consisting of German DJs and producers Rolf Ellmer (Jam) and Markus Löffel (Spoon), whose collaborative work throughout the 1990s and early 2000s helped shape the trajectory of trance and house music. Their partnership began in 1991 in Frankfurt, Germany, amidst the burgeoning rave scene. Jam & Spoon gained international recognition with their hit remix of the song "The Age of Love" in 1992, and they subsequently released their influential albums "Tripomatic Fairytales 2001" and "Tripomatic Fairytales 2002."

Jam & Spoon's innovative sound featured a melding of hypnotic trance beats with melodic elements, often incorporating samples and synthesizers to create atmospheric tracks. They are best known for their iconic singles such as "Right in the Night," featuring the evocative vocals of Plavka Lonich, and the instrumental "Stella," both of which captured the energy and ethos of the 90s dance music explosion. "Right in the Night" particularly was a major hit across Europe, combining a catchy flute hook with a driving dance rhythm. Their work has remained influential and their tracks continue to be remixed and revered by contemporary DJs and producers, echoing Jam & Spoon's enduring impact on the electronic music landscape. Sadly, Markus Löffel passed away in 2006, but Rolf Ellmer continues to keep the spirit of their music alive through continuous reinterpretations and re-releases of their classic tracks.
