Puro Chamuyo is a musical group from Tacuarembó, Uruguay, known for capturing the essence of rural life through their music. The band consists of four members: Joaquín Martínez on accordion and guitar, Gonzalo Olivera on percussion and vocals, Juan Pablo Silva on bandoneón, guitar, and vocals, and Carlos Pedrozo on bass. Their music combines traditional Uruguayan folk styles like polcas, rasguidos dobles, vaneras, and milongas tangueras, often incorporating elements from Brazil and Argentina. Puro Chamuyo released their debut album "Atrevidamente Nuestro" in 2017, which was nominated for Best Folklore Album at the Graffiti Awards in 2018. They followed this success with "Músico de Campo" in 2019, also nominated for a Graffiti Award in 2020. The group has performed at various festivals across Uruguay, showcasing their unique blend of folk music with a lively, danceable vibe.
