Le Quatuor Rosamonde

**Le Quatuor Rosamonde** is a French string quartet ensemble established in 1981, named after Franz Schubert's "Rosamunde" quartet. The quartet was founded by four students of Jacques Parrenin and Roland Pidoux at the Conservatoire de Paris: Agnès Sulem-Bialobroda (first violin), Thomas Tercieux (second violin), Jean Sulem (viola), and Xavier Gagnepain (cello). They further refined their skills at Yale University and have been influenced by notable figures such as Raphaël Hillyer and Eugene Lehner, who imparted the heritage of the Viennese masters of the early 20th century.

The Quatuor Rosamonde has achieved significant success, winning several international competitions, including the Concours International d'Évian in 1983 and the European Broadcasting Union's Quartet Competition in Salzburg in 1986. They have performed an eclectic repertoire, including contemporary music, and have received prestigious awards for their recordings, such as the Grand Prix du disque de l'Académie Charles Cros. Their recent releases include works by Beethoven, Ravel, Faure, Schönberg, Ligeti, Dutilleux, Roussel, Ibert, and Schmitt.
