Kotaro Fukuma

Kotaro Fukuma is a renowned Japanese classical pianist born on August 29, 1982, in Kokubunji City, west of Tokyo. He began his piano journey at the age of five and has since garnered numerous prestigious awards in international competitions, including the Arthur Rubinstein in Tel Aviv, Paloma O’Shea in Santander, Maj Lind in Helsinki, and the Gina Bachauer in Salt Lake City. Notably, at 20, he won both the First Prize and the Chopin Prize at the 15th Cleveland International Piano Competition in 2003. This marked the beginning of his successful concert career, which spans over 35 countries across five continents.

Fukuma has performed in some of the world's most esteemed concert venues, such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center in New York, Wigmore Hall in London, and the Philharmonie in Berlin. He has released numerous critically acclaimed albums, including "Fantasy – Scriabin & Rachmaninoff," which was nominated for the International Classical Music Award in 2023. His educational background includes studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris and the Universität der Künste Berlin, as well as mentorship from notable pianists like Leon Fleisher and Mitsuko Uchida. Currently, Kotaro Fukuma resides in Berlin.
