Antoni Wit

Antoni Wit, born February 7, 1944, in Kraków, Poland, is a respected conductor known for his expertise in both the symphonic and operatic realms. His prolific career is marked by his deep engagement with both Polish compositions and international repertoire, highlighting his versatility and profound musical understanding. A graduate of the Kraków Conservatory and the Paris Conservatoire, Wit honed his craft under the tutelage of esteemed mentors such as Nadia Boulanger. Throughout his illustrious journey, which includes serving as the assistant to the legendary composer-conductor Witold Lutosławski, Antoni Wit has helmed various esteemed ensembles, most notably as the artistic director of the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra from 2002 until 2013.
