James Day is a talented songwriter and producer who grew up vibing to the soul legends of the '70s, idolizing folks like Chaka Khan and Quincy Jones. He dreamed of hitting the stage as a singer and dancer, heading to New York's American Academy of Dramatic Arts in the '80s, but life threw a curveball when he was diagnosed with Meniere's Syndrome, causing severe dizziness and hearing loss in one ear that sidelined him for over two years.
Bouncing back, Day built a home studio and dove into songwriting and production, scoring big wins like Billboard Magazine's International Songwriting Competition, the John Lennon Song Contest, and a Songwriters Hall of Fame award from Hal David. He's placed tracks on major labels like Virgin/EMI and Sony/BMG, plus tons of TV shows, and dropped soulful projects like the 2005 EP *Remember When* (with Audrey Wheeler and Jeff Ramsey) and albums *Better Days*, *Natural Things*, *Groove Nights (The U-Nam Mixes)*, and recent gems like *Holiday Soul*—often remixing his funky, heartfelt tunes for dance, jazz, and urban crowds.
