Big Smith

Big Smith is a spirited family band hailing from the Ozarks, blending foot-stomping folk, bluegrass, and roots music with a hearty dose of down-home charm. Formed in 1996 by five cousins from the Smith family—Mark, Jody, and Mike Bilyeu, along with siblings Rik and Jay Williamson—the group’s sound is steeped in the traditions of their Missouri upbringing, featuring lively harmonies, fiddle, mandolin, guitar, and bass. Known for their rollicking live shows and community-focused spirit, they’ve become local legends, celebrating rural life through songs that range from rowdy barnburners to tender ballads.

Over the years, Big Smith has released albums like *Kin* and *Roots, Shoots, & Wings*, which showcase their knack for storytelling and playful energy. They even dipped into family-friendly fun with *From Hay to Zzzzzz: Hillbilly Songs for Kids*, proving their music spans generations. Whether they’re playing festivals, honky-tonks, or their beloved hometown gigs, Big Smith’s music feels like a big, welcoming porch where everyone’s invited to sing along.
