Titi Bakorta is a Congolese multi-instrumentalist and singer known for his unique blend of traditional Congolese sounds with psychedelic and experimental elements. Born and raised in Kinshasa, Bakorta's musical journey took an unexpected turn when he fell off a boat while traveling on the Congo River. This incident led him to Kisangani, where he met local singer Dancer Papalas, marking the beginning of his musical career.
Now based in Kampala, Bakorta has made a name for himself with his debut album "Molende," released on the Nyege Nyege Tapes label. His music weaves traditional Congolese pop and folk sounds through a psychedelic tapestry of guitar loops, manipulated vocals, and unconventional beatbox rhythms. Bakorta has also collaborated with Peruvian artist Ale Hop on the album "Mapambazuko," further showcasing his versatility and innovative approach to music.
