The Riverdales were an American punk rock band hailing from Chicago, Illinois. Formed in 1994 by Screeching Weasel members Ben Foster (Ben Weasel), Dan Schafer (Danny Vapid), and Dan Sullivan (Dan Panic), the band sought to capture the essence of early Ramones-influenced punk. With simple, catchy, and fast-paced songs, the Riverdales carved out a niche for themselves in the mid-90s punk revival scene.
Their eponymous debut album "Riverdales" was released in 1995 and quickly became a favorite among punk aficionados. As the band progressed, they released additional records that each expanded their fan base and cemented their status as torchbearers of classic punk sound. "Storm the Streets," released in 1997, followed by "Phase 3" in 2003, showcased the band's ability to stick to their roots while incorporating fresh elements into their music. The Riverdales' later years saw them release the incisive "Invasion USA" in 2009 and their final studio album "Tarantula" in 2010, which was widely seen as a return to the band's earlier, rawer punk style. Although the Riverdales disbanded in 2011, the music they left behind continues to inspire punk enthusiasts and is considered seminal within the genre for its unapologetic homage to the classic punk era.
