DJ Wada

DJ WADA is a legendary techno DJ and producer from Tokyo, Japan, with a career spanning over 40 years. He began as a guitarist in a rock band during his teenage years before starting his DJ career in 1978 at discos in Roppongi, Tokyo. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, he played a pivotal role in shaping Japan’s club music scene, notably launching Tokyo’s first techno party “Sublime” in 1994 alongside DJ YAMA at the club Maniac Love. DJ WADA is recognized for his precise DJ technique and unique artistic expression, blending techno and ambient music styles.

On the production side, he formed units like Co-Fusion and Atom with Heigo Tani, releasing multiple albums and EPs on their Reel Musiq label. Despite facing challenges such as losing hearing in one ear in 2002, DJ WADA made a strong comeback and continues to release music and perform regularly. His recent works include the mini-albums “Intuition” and “Intuition II,” and releases on his own label Dirreta, demonstrating his ongoing influence and creativity in the techno scene.
