Jukka Haavisto

Jukka Haavisto is a Finnish bassist and composer known for his masterful fretless bass playing and his unique blend of jazz fusion and world music fusion. Graduating with a Master of Music Performance and Jazz Improvisation from the University of Stavanger in 2016, Haavisto has built a reputation for skillful improvisation and compelling compositions that pay homage to the golden era of 1970s fusion jazz while pushing musical boundaries. His work includes his debut album *Reflections* (2022) and several live recordings such as *Live at Eclipse Jazz Club*, where his guitar-driven fusion sound shines. Haavisto leads a band featuring top-tier musicians like guitarist Johannes Granroth, drummer Severi Sorjonen, and keyboardist Vili Itäpelto, offering listeners a rich and vibrant jazz fusion experience.

Beyond his solo projects, Haavisto is an active studio and live musician collaborating with various groups including Bossapoika, Beat, Bass & Bone, and Helsinki Headnod Convention. He is an endorsed artist with Aguilar Amplification and Maruszczyk Instruments, experts appreciate his delicate intonation and expressive fretless technique. Based in Tampere, Finland, Haavisto also offers private bass lessons, sharing his skills in both in-person and remote formats, continuing to inspire a new generation of bassists while maintaining a busy performing and recording career.
