Lionel Marchetti

Lionel Marchetti is a French composer and an emblematic figure in contemporary electroacoustic music, who has carved a unique niche with his experimental and avant-garde approach to sound construction. Born in Marseille in 1967, Marchetti developed his craft under the mentorship of musique concrète pioneers such as Xavier Garcia and later at the Conservatoire de Lyon under Denis Dufour. His work is deeply influenced by the acousmatic tradition and often revolves around the manipulation of natural sounds, synthesizer tones, and found objects, pushing the boundaries of the auditory experience.

With an expansive oeuvre that extends beyond traditional compositions into the realms of improvisation, performance, and even poetry, Marchetti's body of work is as diverse as it is profound. His recent releases, such as "Inland Lake (Le Lac Intérieur)," "The Last Days of Reality," and "Mort Aux Vaches," showcase his relentless pursuit of exploring the depths of sound. Marchetti's compositions frequently evoke cinematic landscapes, offering listeners an immersive sonic journey. His approach to music is not just about listening, but about experiencing sound as a multi-dimensional medium, one that encompasses space, memory, and emotion.
