Alynda Segarra

Alynda Segarra is a singer-songwriter and the creative force behind the band Hurray for the Riff Raff. Originally from the Bronx, New York, Segarra blends elements of folk, Americana, punk, and roots music to tell powerful stories that often center on identity, justice, and resilience. After leaving home as a teenager and traveling across the U.S., they eventually settled in New Orleans, where Hurray for the Riff Raff began to take shape.

Over the years, Segarra has earned critical acclaim for their introspective lyrics and genre-defying sound, particularly on albums like "The Navigator" (2017) and "Life on Earth" (2022). They're known for using their music to uplift marginalized voices and delve into personal and political struggles, crafting songs that are both deeply personal and socially conscious.
