Zságer Balázs is a Budapest-based keyboardist, producer, and an iconic figure in Hungary’s electronic music scene since the early 2000s. He’s best known as the founder and driving force behind Žagar, a leading indie electronic band celebrated for their atmospheric sound blending electronic, jazz, and indie rock. Beyond Žagar, Zságer has produced four studio albums and numerous soundtracks, including acclaimed work for films and international TV shows like CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. His tracks have been remixed by renowned producers such as Deadbeat, Minilogue, and Vakula.
As a solo artist, Zságer explores experimental, avant-garde territory—his recent releases like Aqua Obscura and Sacral Design EP reflect his fascination with deep atmospheres, evolving textures, and conceptual themes that bridge technology, spirituality, and mythology. Sacral Design, for example, dives into the idea of AI-generated mythologies, presenting a contemplative, immersive listening experience that’s both haunting and hopeful. In live performance, Zságer builds dreamlike, otherworldly sonic worlds using multiple synthesizers and hardware, maintaining a reputation for hypnotic, emotionally rich compositions. His influence extends as a label owner too—he co-runs the electronica label Free Sequence, further cementing his role as a pioneer in the Hungarian scene and beyond.
