Manila Sotang is a renowned Nepali singer known for her contributions to Nepali Adhunik (modern) music. Born in Darjeeling, India, she moved to Kathmandu with her husband Uday Sotang in the late 1980s to pursue a musical career. Manila was introduced to music at a young age by her uncle, who taught her to sing bhajans. She gained recognition after singing playback for the film *Mayalu*. Over her career, she has sung more than 200 songs and collaborated with her husband on numerous albums, including *Jhajhalko*, *Darpan*, *Muskan*, *Katha*, *Aatma Katha*, *Bhid Dekhi Bahira*, *Sandesh*, *Marma*, *Upama*, *Sambaad*, and a Hindi ghazal album titled *Together*.
Manila's personal life is closely intertwined with her music career, as she and Uday have been married for over three decades. Their daughter Shreya Sotang is also a singer, following in her parents' footsteps. Manila and Uday have successfully balanced their musical endeavors with family life, creating a harmonious partnership both on and off stage.
