He graduated from the Giuseppe Martucci Salerno State Conservatoire and furthered his piano studies with notable mentors such as Konstantin Bogino, Bruno Mezzena, Boris Bechterev, and Aldo Ciccolini. In addition to his musical pursuits, Catena holds degrees in Philosophy from the University of Salerno and Psychology from the Second University of Naples. He is celebrated for his performances at prestigious venues like the Gasteig in Munich, the Saint Petersburg Philharmonia, and the Kennedy Center in Washington. Catena chairs the piano professorship at the Domenico Cimarosa State Conservatoire in Avellino and has been a recording artist for Camerata Tokyo since 2010. He is also a Yamaha Artist, known for his expressive and nuanced playing style.
